This page was last updated on 19 January 2016. The Mommas and Papas were one of my favorite groups. Cass Elliot sang "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" wonderfully. Hopefully you'll hear the music for this playing now. George Fortin Sr. & Eleanora (Hansen) Fortin: My mother's father and his family came to the US via Canada from France. He served with the 32nd Field Artillery during WW I. He went for his training at Camp Meade, MD, which is now called Fort Meade. Shown below is a post card of the troop train as the men arrived there to be trained for their duties during World War I.
These pictures from left to right show the man I called Dad and what he looked like back then, a few years before he passed away, and the marker that is on his grave. Somewhere I have photos of their entire family but meanwhile here is a photo of my grandmother, next is her with two of her sisters--Margaret and Esther, and a wonderful photo of my grandmother and grandfather. I have no photos of my birth father or his family--actually I guess I'm lucky enough to know his name.
