Cool My Favorite Civilian Places are:

OK I enjoy laughing and one of my favorite women comediennes is none other than Ellen DeGeneres. I'm so glad she now has The Ellen DeGeneres Show daily. I'm glad to see that ELLEN airs in my hometown area on the local CBS channel. Although I missed most of the first season I at least got to see some of the reruns that summer. I'm thankful that her show has been renewed for another year. I think she has picked up where Rosie O'Donnell left off and Ellen already has a very big following! Ellen is also very involved with animal refuge and helping people especially those from her original hometown area of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. CONGRATS to Ellen for receiving more Emmy's! AND she has been named to the Forbes list of the Top 20 richest women entertainers. I couldn't wait to see her host the Oscars on 25 February '06 AND SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB SHE DID! PLUS--she and her show were nominated again for the Daytime Emmy's AND WON! I'm glad she recuperated from her back injury--I know how painful that can be!

I loved Rosie O'Donnell's program. I too am a television and movie junkie. Her interview on Primetime with Diane Sawyer about the Florida adoption laws was wonderful. I hope she can help the gay couples in Florida change the legislation banning their adopting needy children. AND I was so glad to see that she and her partner Kelli went to San Francisco to be married. See what Rosie is up to these days by checking out Rosie and read her daily blog--I do! Rosie joined "The View" in September 2006 replacing the wonderful Meredith Viera! Rosie said she had only wanted to work during the school year and was given a contract for one year. She went into negotiations for the 2007-2008 season knowing how much the ratings had gone up since she was back on the air and how much ABC had made. ABC/Disney wanted her for three years for $6M but she asked for another one year contract at $10M. She took their offer to her family and they all voted that she not sign for three years. She decided to leave "The View" in June--however--following a heated discussion with Elizabeth Hasselbeck on 23 May, Rosie requested to leave the program immediately and I don't blame her one bit. Personally I think Elizabeth should be removed from the show! Rosie had brought many more viewers to the program. She will be missed by those of us who really like her and thank her for believing in the Freedom of Speech and bringing up some interesting topics on the air! Her online blog will continue--YEAH! Rosie appeared several times on Cyndi Lauper's 2007 True Colors Tour--sure wish I could have seen them appear live--and she is planning to be on 2008 True Colors Tour with Cyndi again--perhaps I'll get lucky this year! Many folks have asked about Rosie's tattoo--well she had hers done by Anil Gupta! Several YouTube sites have recently been seen--if you like Rosie you might want to check these out:

With special thanks to Rosie and her website I have also been turned onto Ross Mathews-BLOGtastic! better known as Ross the Intern. He is so full of life and love and is now getting more recognition on TV having been on with Jay Leno and The View! More recently I've been seeing him on NBC's game show: 1 vs 100.

Whoopi Goldberg has joined the ladies at the table on "The View"  as the moderator and she is also on the radio so why not Wake Up With Whoopi now!

Now I get to see Oprah's program but it's on at the same time as Ellen so when I can't watch or forget to tape Oprah I often check out: Oprah.com.

I don't think there is anyone who doesn't like Celine Dion or her music. She has just finished appearing 5 nights a week in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace--and is preparing to start a world tour. I'd love to go see her but the tickets are expensive. AND though Celine is leaving Vegas she will be replaced by none other than Bette Midler!

One of my favorite actresses is none other than Dana Delany and there are many other websites about her too. She did a wonderful job portraying Colleen McMurphy on TV's "China Beach" and is now appearing on "Desperate Housewives" on ABC.

Marie Osmond is one of my favorite ladies. Watching her grow up on TV was interesting. She has done a lot in her life so please check out Marie Osmond. I was sorry to hear her radio show had been canceled but she has announced that she will haev a TV talk show starting in 2009.

If you travel as much as I do and you have pets--I came across a wonderful website that will help you plan your travel routes as well as provide you a listing of pet friendly hotels. Visit Pets Welcome.

What a shock I had when reading my paper to see that Maggie's friend, Rosemary Clooney, had died at the age of 74. She was one of my favorite singers and I've seen her perform a few times on stage. On the 4th of July 2002 during the annual Concert on the Lawn in DC the orchestra leader told everyone of her passing and how much she meant to him. He asked their forgiveness as he was about to show a clip of the last time she sang on his stage. AND then there she was--singing "God Bless America" and bringing chills to my old body. I'd like to invite you to visit Rosemary Clooney to learn more about this wonderful singer and true friend to many. You might also be glad to hear that the Rosemary Clooney House has opened in her hometown of Maysville, Kentucky! I'd also like to invite you to visit The Rosemary Clooney Palladium to learn more about her!

Bette Midler has always been one of my favorites and she will be opening a new show soon in Las Vegas replacing Celine Dion. She made another new CD this time with songs by Peggy Lee which is very good. She also did a wonderful CD of Rosemary Clooney songs.

Cher Returns! live on stage at Caesars Palace Las Vegas on 6 May 2008! Then she will leap-frog with Bette so they can each get breaks.

During the past couple of years I've really gotten interested in the drama series "The Pretender" on television. Sadly this show has been cancelled by the network BUT happily TNT cable TV has been showing all the shows. They have even made and aired two special movies during 2001 and if we--the public--keep up the calls and notes to them--perhaps the network will continue to make more of the series or more movies about this wonderful show. Meanwhile visit their website Pretender 2001 to learn more about the show, cast, and upcoming movies!

I remember Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and other Country & Western singers from my youth. My favorite current C&W singer is Reba McIntyre. Her new television comedy series is good too BUT I only get to see it when I'm home in NY as the Richmond cable company doesn't carry the WB channel. Take a moment to look at her site: Reba Review.

Speaking of Hank Williams--did you know he had a daughter also? Jett Williams has her own website now so please go visit Jett.
